Bermuda’s ESG Experience and its Influence on the Global (Re)insurance Industry

This Bermuda Angle webinar, in partnership with Oxbow Partners, seeks to reflect on Bermuda’s decades of ESG experience and what it means for the global (re)insurance industry. We will hear insights from Bermuda’s Deputy Premier, The Hon. Walter Roban, JP, MP, about the Bermuda Government’s climate actions, followed by a summary of the recent ESG in Bermuda report issued by Oxbow Partners and the Bermuda Business Development Agency (BDA). The session will conclude with a panel discussion with industry leaders on the future of ESG in Bermuda as it seeks to build its position as a global centre of excellence for climate risk finance. Speakers include:

• Miqdaad Versi, Head of ESG, Oxbow Partners: Miqdaad Versi is Head of ESG at Oxbow Partners and led the development of the report showcasing the ESG maturity of the Bermudian (re)insurance industry.
• Harriet James, ESG Strategy, Renaissance Re: Harriet James is responsible for managing and progressing RenaissanceRe’s ESG strategy across the Company, including identifying and managing ESG priorities and driving the development of new sustainability initiatives.
• Andrew MacFarlane, Head of Climate, AXA XL: Andrew is responsible for the global climate strategy for AXA XL ensuring all of AXA XL’s climate-related efforts, across all the areas of the business, both insurance and reinsurance, are aligned towards furthering AXA XL’s sustainability ambitions and AXA’s climate leadership.
• Shannon Sun, Head of Corporate Development and Chair of the Innovation Committee of AIG Re: AIG Re, is a global reinsurer with platforms including Validus Re, AlphaCat, Talbot Treaty and Validus Research. Shannon is responsible for AIG Re’s corporate development-related initiatives, innovation strategy, and Validus Re’s retrocession needs for non-property lines of business.
